Its Christmas time, so its the right to time to pull out this stunning Chevelle, a beautifully restored big block Super Sport in Dark Green Metallic over Parchment. OK, its not green over red, but we guarantee that you will feel like a 7 year old again if you find this bad boy under your Christmas tree this year.
With less than 100 miles driven since a complete nut bolt restoration, this Chevelle is the perfect Bow Tie for cruising, showing and, heck, even street racing. With 350 horsepower under your foot and concours-level finishing throughout, it would be a mistake to underestimate this car on the street or at a show.
I dont know what GM was thinking in 69 by not putting any relevant information on the cowl tag or in the VIN, but according to the cowl tag, this car has been restored to its factory-correct state:

Dark Green Metallic (this cars original code 57) looks awesome on this car, especially accented by the white side stripe, fresh SS badges, and Parchment interior. You have to see the paint to truly appreciate it, as the metal-flake and depth are difficult to put into words. The body work is first-rate throughout, with incredibly straight panels and a first-rate cut and buff job on the finish. Dark cars tend to magnify any flaws in the paint, but this car looks spectacular, sophisticated, and elegant. Magnum 500 road wheels should have been mandatory on Chevellesthey make the car, especially with the recent F70-14 Goodyear Polyglas tires wrapped around them.
As for trim, its all new, and I mean all. Thats the grille, all emblems, reveal moldings, bumpers, marker lights and bezels, wheel lip moldingseverything. Heres another car thats over-the-top enough to deserve its new set of glass, too, which looks awesome with its green tint.
Moving underneath and have a look at the show-quality chassis. Youll notice that the floors are the proper satin black while the frame is semi-gloss, as are the control arms and 12-bolt rear axle, just as they should be. Inspection marks and tags abound, hanging from lines, painted on assemblies, and stamped onto components. The exhaust is correct to the tips and the fuel system is brand new from stem to stern. Of course the power disc brakes have been completely rebuilt, and there are new lines throughout. The suspension, shocks and front end have all been properly restored. Youre looking at a highly detailed car that appears as close to when it sat in a holding lot before being shipped to a dealer as youre going to get without a time machine.
Finishing off the mechanical tour takes us under the hood to the heart of the beast. The date-coded 350 horsepower NOM 396 cubic-inch engine gleams in its satin black home. Beautiful chrome valve covers mix with the chrome open element air cleaner to supply just enough flash to be entertaining. The air cleaner sports correct Turbo-Jet 350 Horsepower decals, below the crossed flags 396 emblem. A correct radiator and five-rib heater hoses are connected with authentic tower clamps while correct spring clamp battery cables hold tightly to a fresh battery. A correctly re-plated power brake booster and rebuilt master cylinder feed new lines to the front disc brakes. The alternator, the carb, the wiringall new or rebuilt, too, and small touches like the correct radiator cap, decals, and paint treatments set the car a step aboveeven the hand-written -20 that indicates the coolant had been tested has been accurately replicated. A twist of the key is all thats needed to start the beast, which settles to a nice idle nearly immediately. This is one nice-running big block.
The engine sends all that twist rearward to a rebuilt Muncie 4-speed manual that is just begging to bang some gears. From there, power is transferred to a fresh GM 12-bolt rear hanging on new springs and shocks to keep it planted. You definitely dont have to baby this car> everything is built to handle big block power, so go ahead and enjoy it!
Slip inside. I LOVE parchment interiors! Everythings restored in here, too, from carpet to headliner and sun visors, and from door panel to door panel. A tilt column with wood-grain wheel fits nicely in your hands, as does the Hurst shifter sticking out of the console. New emblems on the doors and dash proudly proclaim the cars SS396 status, a new dash pad sits flush and straight and the fully rebuilt seats are there for the long haul. The chrome is all new from the sun visor mounts to the disc brake medallion in the brake pedal. Correct SS emblems have been reinstalled on the new door panels, and the seatbelts are brand new reproduction items that look 100% original. A Custom Autosound cassette player resides in the dash is the sole deviation from stock, and is totally forgivable considering its factory appearance and improved sound.
The trunk is just as well restored as the rest of the car, too. The foundation is authentic spatter-paint topped by a reproduction mat. Theres a steel spare with a B F Goodrich spare, and a restored jack assembly. Correct decals have been reproduced under the deck-lid for a factory-fresh appearance.
Immaculately finished in a great color combination with a four speed, this SS396 is a hard-core Chevelle guys dream car. Whether youre a Chevelle guy, a muscle collector or someone new looking for a head turning street terror, dont waitChristmas only comes once every year!
